What is the greatest lesson you learned in Missionettes?
Missionettes taught me many things, but the greatest thing it helped me learn was the love of Christ. Different lessons and units, such as sexual purity, taught me that Christ forgives all past sins if we just ask for His grace. Another thing it taught me was that every single person in this world is valuable to the Lord. I had very low self-esteem, especially as a teenager, and my Girls Only sponsor always would tell me, “God don’t make no junk.” It helped me in ways she will never know.
Who was your greatest support as you completed the program and why?
Wow, I can’t even limit it to one. My aunt Peggy took me to church for so many years. Her love for Christ inspires me! All my past sponsors hold a special place in my heart. Miss Nancy is such an awesome woman with such a jolly attitude. And finally, my parents, who put me through those hours of learning Scripture. I love them both so much!
What fun memory would you like to share?
I loved all the retreats and Powettes, but the Girls Only Getaway in the summer of 2002 was amazing. Mohican is so beautiful, and I really got to know the other girls in my group much better. Nikki and Melissa are the greatest friends I could ask for. I also remember getting the award of Retreat Princess in 1999. I was so happy to see that I could be an example to younger girls in the program through my Christianity!
